Man says he suffered traumatic brain injury at county fair

A man from Mason County, West Virginia, has filed a lawsuit against Mason County Fair, Inc. for negligence that he says led to a traumatic brain injury. The incident occurred on Aug. 9, 2013, in Point Pleasant at the Mason County Fairgrounds.

According to the complaint, the man has had medical expenses that are more than $90,000. He also states that he has lost $150,000 in earnings. He also claims an earning capacity loss of $1.5 million. His wife is also suing Mason County Fair, Inc. for loss of consortium, although the amount she seeks is not given.

While the specific nature of the incident is not provided in reports, the plaintiff says that he suffered a TBI because of the defendant's negligence.

Traumatic brain injuries can have a significant effect on someone's life, with some TBIs causing life-long problems. The main symptoms of a TBI differ depending on how severe the injury is. For example, those who suffer a mild TBI may experience headaches, nausea, drowsiness, disorientation, memory problems, mood changes and sensitivity to light and sound. A more severe TBI can cause convulsions, loss of coordination, slurred speech, agitation or even coma.

A TBI, even a mild one, requires prompt medical attention. In order for someone to have the best chance at recovery from such an injury, an accurate diagnosis is needed.

Those who suffer a TBI because of another's negligence have a right to seek compensation for medical bills, loss of work, pain and suffering, temporary and permanent disability and more. An experienced personal injury attorney can make it easier for you to understand your rights in such a case.
